Read full description of the books:
In this story, magic happens and dreams come true. A little girl makes a wish for the first time ever on Thanksgiving Day, with her mother using a magic wishbone. She refuses to say what she wished for and insists that the magic needs time to happen, although she doesn’t understand exactly how magic works.
Two days later, new neighbors arrive at the ranchette next door and they own a pony with the marking of a wishbone on its forehead. The little girl, Hazel, is spellbound by the fact that the pony’s name is Wishbone. She knows that this pony is meant for her, because this is indeed, exactly what she wished for.
Another girl is jealous that Hazel may get the pony that she wished for and sets out to foil her dream, so that it does not come true.
Hazel and her friends also find three orphaned raccoons and raise them on a bottle and have to figure out a way to reintegrate them back into the wild.
This is a story of strong friendships and compassion for humans and animals alike.
Other books in this series of Johnny’s Adventures are, ‘Johnny’s Reptile Adventure’, ‘The Skipper’s Captain’, ‘Johnny’s Heroic Adventure’, and ‘Finding a Home.’

Read information about the authorIn my series of children's books 'Johnny's Adventure', many of these adventures were my own growing up, on both the desert and in beautiful Fort Bragg, California. I have always loved to explore the world around me, both on foot and on horseback. My love of animals both wild and domesticated and my appreciation of the beauty of the natural world will pull you into these stories. Being very much a tomboy, I loved playing with horned toads and reptiles of any kind. Living in the country we had some very unusual pets, including a monkey. As an adult I shared my love of animals and reptiles with my children.• I also taught basic horsemanship, Western and English equitation. Students learned how to groom and tack up their own horses. Safety on and around horses was paramount in my teaching.
My students ranged in age from 4 ½ years to adults. I developed individual lesson plans to suit the needs of each rider. One of my many goals was making sure that after each lesson, students left the ranch with an elevated sense of self worth.
In 2001 I was awarded the Trainers Award for the Winter Series by Rock-N-Horse Ranch. The award was based on the total of points that students accumulated from all their ribbons at the end of the season.
From 2000-2001 I taught some of the home schooled children from New Jerusalem Charter School riding lessons for their physical education.
I also trailered out ponies to off-site birthday parties.
I have over 35 years of experience owning my own horses. I’ve shown both English and Western, and I have much experience with gymkhana (games on horseback).
Some of my vast knowledge about horses is shared in 'The Magic Wishbone'. In this story you will learn things about horses that you most likely didn't know before. I'm looking forward to writing more stories about horses and sharing my knowledge with my readers.
These stories are written through the magical lenses of a child's eyes. My love for beautiful Fort Bragg and Noyo Harbor vividly comes alive in these stories. Blessed are those who live there today.
